With all the changes to college admissions brought on by the pandemic, how are admissions officers evaluating students' applications now? What aspects of students' profiles really matter? Now that so many colleges have announced that they are going to continue to be “test optional” for upcoming years, do students even need to take the SAT or ACT? Is there anything my freshman or sophomore can do now to differentiate themselves for college admissions? How do we even start this process? F&B wants to help you sift through the headlines and hearsay to give you the most accurate and up-to-date information on what's really happening in college admissions and standardized testing.

Trey Billings started tutoring students in 2001 while working on Yale research projects in the New Haven Public Schools.  In 2004, he founded Freudigman & Billings with his wife, Elisa, and his business partner, Dr. Kimberly Freudigman, Ph.D.  It's impossible to describe what Trey does at F&B in a sentence or two, but he is a key collaborator in the test prep process with our students and staff.  In addition to his role at F&B, Trey is an investor and advisor at Desmos, the world's leading online graphing calculator, and co-founder of 36 Education, which provides online ACT tutoring to students at boarding schools and around the country.

Alex Wellman joined F&B in 2019 as Assistant Director of College Advising and has over 15 years of experience in the education sector.  At F&B, he is responsible for managing the company’s student-centered advising process, which helps students identify colleges, assess strengths, and identify the optimal marketing strategy for the student.  A graduate of Middlebury College, Alex has taught and held senior leadership roles in independent schools, including Assistant Director of College Guidance and student life/academic dean at Greens Farms Academy.  Alex holds membership with the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC), and the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).

Hanna Vanderloop joined F&B in 2018 as the Director of Test Prep after eight years of tutoring for a large, elite tutoring firm in Manhattan.  At F&B, she is responsible for providing guidance on our students' test prep processes.  In collaboration the student and parent, she creates a test prep plan that makes this process as painless as possible! Additionally, she trains and manages all of our test prep tutors and coordinates our practice testing service.  Hanna grew up in Wisconsin and holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin.  She has extensive experience (over 10000 hours!) tutoring ACT, SAT, and several of the AP exams.  Hanna is also an ACT Certified Educator.
